UPDATE: I left Cambodia:  https://www.cameronmckean.com/news/cambodiaiamout

Cambodia is a fast developing country in Southeast Asia with a population of over 16 million people. The economy has been growing steadily in recent years, and the country is becoming an increasingly attractive destination for foreign investment. Here are some reasons why opening a business in Cambodia in 2023 may be a good idea:

1. Strategic Location: Cambodia's strategic location in the heart of Southeast Asia makes it a prime location for businesses looking to access the ASEAN market. Cambodia borders Thailand, Vietnam, and Laos, and is close to the economic powerhouses of China and India. This location provides easy access to a consumer market of over 600 million people.

2. Growing Economy: Cambodia's economy has been growing at an impressive rate, averaging 7% growth per year over the past decade. The country's GDP is expected to continue growing, driven by increasing investments in infrastructure, tourism, and manufacturing.

3. Business-friendly Environment: Cambodia has implemented policies that promote a business-friendly environment. The country has reduced bureaucracy and streamlined procedures for starting and operating businesses. Additionally, the government has implemented tax incentives to attract foreign investment.

4. Low Cost of Labor: The cost of labor in Cambodia is relatively low compared to other countries in the region. This makes it an attractive destination for businesses looking to reduce labor costs while maintaining high-quality output.

5. Investment Opportunities: Cambodia has a range of investment opportunities across various sectors, including agriculture, tourism, manufacturing, and infrastructure. The government is actively seeking foreign investment to develop these sectors and has implemented policies to encourage investment.

For the above reasons I decided now was the time for me to start investing in Cambodia. I opened my company within 6 weeks and found the process easy and straight forward. Many agents exist to make the process fast and easy for people new to Cambodia.

However, it is important to note that Cambodia is still a developing country with some challenges. These include a lack of skilled labor, infrastructure deficits in some areas, and a sometimes unpredictable regulatory environment. As such, potential investors should conduct thorough research and seek professional advice before making any investment decisions in Cambodia.
